For three sun-soaked days (2–4 May 2025), our members turned Corby Glen into a living tribute to VE Day—and an unforgettable celebration of community.

Friday: Arrivals & Patriotic Parade
Brilliant weather sparked spontaneous meet-ups as vans rolled in and bunting went up. The evening’s red-white-blue theme shone, highlighted by three friends in matching patriotic suits. Inside, volunteer décor lead Kerry unveiled a 1940s-style hall. Live vocalist Cherry Bomb moved from wartime favourites to modern dance-floor fillers. (Photos below.)

Saturday: Exploration & Vintage Party
Morning sunshine tempted many into the nearby village, where the lavender hut scented the air and cream-and-jam scones fuelled the age-old debate. Back on-site, our vintage party preparations ramped up. After Tim opened with Churchill’s “We shall never surrender” and a one-minute silence, mountains of home-cooked food and generous pours of Pimm’s kept everyone happy. Traditional games for all ages crowned the afternoon, followed by TV-themed bingo, a frantic beetle drive and chair-swapping contests. (Photos below.)

Sunday: Farewells & Future Plans
Decoration take-down is always tinged with sadness, but a communal coffee morning turned packing up into planning ahead. Congratulations to Demi and James, winners of the free-rally draw! (Final photos below.)
